Advocacy Skills – Mock
Trials, Presentations and Negotiation
Gareth Bramley (Law), Tina McKevitt (Law), Julia Belshaw (Law)
What is this about?
This session outlines how advocacy skills are developed for the
students, both in a curricular and extra- curricular setting. It provides a
summary of some of the methods and techniques currently used and how these
benefit students. It also contains a brief overview of visions for developing
the teaching of these skills in the future.
How will colleagues
benefit?
Colleagues will be able to see how the use of advocacy and
presentation skills can assist learning and teaching generally, in particular
how they can use these skills in their own teaching to develop critical review,
role play, team working, and preparing an argument.
