Using Technology to Develop, Recognise and Acknowledge the Development of Skills

 What is this display about?

Technology can play a role in helping students to reflect on their achievements and the skills that they have developed during their time at University. Tools like PebblePad (an online e-portfolio tool) offer staff the opportunity to develop electronic workbooks to structure and encourage students to reflect on the knowledge that they are developing and to move beyond knowledge acquisition. Open Badges offer a way of informally recognising the skills that students are developing, but are not always recognised. Using technology students have the opportunity to develop their own reflection plans, collate learning from different places and share their developments with a wider audience.

How will colleagues benefit?

Colleagues will have the opportunity to see how technologies such as Pebblepad  are being used in a variety of contexts across different faculties and for different learning activities (including faculty challenges and with PGR students). They will also be able to discuss how their own practice can be enhanced through the integration of technology with members of the TEL team and identify the most appropriate tools to meet the needs of themselves and their students.
